The nation's No. 2 girls basketball recruit and her high school basketball team have parted ways.

Kaela Davis, a Georgia Tech signee, is no longer with the Buford girls basketball team and won't be the remainder of the season, Buford officials confirmed Thursday morning. Those representatives declined additional comment on the reasons, and whether the decision was made by Davis or the coaches.

Davis had missed the past three Wolves games, wins over White County, Dawson County and West Hall. Her last game was Jan. 26, when she scored nine points and had 11 rebounds in a 44-40 loss to Wesleyan.

The 6-foot-2 guard is ranked second on the ESPN HoopGurlz rankings of the top recruits from the Class of 2013. She is a two-time gold medalist with USA Basketball and was a longtime commitment to Tennessee before changing her mind to Tech.

At the high school level, Davis won a state title as a Norcross freshman and then helped Buford to a state title as a sophomore. The Wolves finished as state runner-up last season, when Davis was the Georgia Sports Writers Association's Class AA player of the year after averaging 18.5 points.

The Buford girls are 18-4 this season, including 12-0 in Region 7-AAA, heading into a key Friday night home game vs. North Hall.

Hate to hear this.....the girl can play and it stinks she won't get to close out her H.S. career with her team and hopefully another State Championship.

Best of luck to her in the future!!!

It's a shame that her parents can't get their attitudes together to benefit their children. She has a great deal of talent but, their attitudes will run a lot of people off. I do wish her the best in the future ~ Hopefully they call learn to be bigger and better people.
