SUWANEE — Devin Davidson and Andrew Stanley first met in third grade. They didn't play on the same football team until sixth grade, but spent the past seven seasons playing on the same team.
And now, they get four more years.
The two Peachtree Ridge seniors signed letters of intent today to play at Mercer, saying they came to the decision independently but were happy to both be headed to the same place.
“Going in, I'll be a little more comfortable,” said Davidson, who plans to room with Stanley. “There will be not awkward situation with the roommate. That's my buddy.”
The two wore matching orange ties to Wednesday's signing ceremony and sat next to each other on the stage in front of a packed Peachtree Ridge auditorium. As they milled about afterward, they both remembered watching from the seats in years past.
“It's very exciting,” Stanley said. “I've seen all the kids before me do it, but I never thought it was going to be me.”
