PREP ROUNDUP: Skidgel leads Archer past Grayson

LOGANVILLE — Archer defeated Grayson 69-35 on Friday to remain undefeated in girls basketball.

Amber Skidgel led all scorers with 24 points while also pulling in five rebounds and recording four assists.

Autumn Newby had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Madison Newby came up just short of a triple-double with nine points, eight steals and seven assists. Alesha Mann also contributed eight points and five steals.

Girls Basketball

Mill Creek 69, Meadowcreek 34

HOSCHTON — Mill Creek (4-1, 1-1) defeated Meadowcreek 69-34 on Friday night behind 11 points each from Madison Phillips and Meredith Schulte. Lauren Smith also added 10 points, while Shannon McCrosson totaled five assists to pace the Hawks’ attack.

Parkview 65, Brookwood 28

SNELLVILLE — Parkview defeated archrival Brookwood on Friday night 65-28. Victoria Harris led all scorers with 18 points, but 13 different Parkview players scored in the game. Parkview (5-0, 2-0) remained undefeated and will take on Dacula next Friday night.

Peachtree Ridge 49, Duluth 45

SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge beat rival Duluth 49-45 on Friday. Lorrie Cruse scored 20 points to lead the Lions to the win, while Kendra Purifoye added 15 points. Taylor Auzenne led Duluth with 16 points. Peachtree Ridge (3-2, 2-0) plays Shiloh Saturday.

Prince Avenue 35, Providence 21

ATHENS — Providence fell to Prince Avenue 35-21 on Friday night. Megan Parker had 12 points to lead Providence, which fell to 2-3 on the season.

Dacula 56, Berkmar 48

DACULA — Faustine Aifuwa scored 26 points, had 15 rebounds and seven blocks to lead Dacula to a 56-48 win over Berkmar. Dacula (5-1, 2-0) also got a big game from J’Nai Owens, who finished with 12 points and seven assists.

Wesleyan 78, Darlington 55

ROME — Riley Casey scored 13 points and Cairo Booker added 10 and four assists as Wesleyan defeated Darlington 78-55. Wesleyan (6-0) also had a good night from Landyn Duley, who finished with 12 points. The game featured a high number of free throws as Wesleyan hit 18 of 30 attempts from the line, while Darlington was 28 of 37. Devan Lowe also had five assists for Wesleyan in the victory.

Lanier 63, Johnson 22

GAINESVILLE — Lanier dominated Johnson 63-22 on Friday night. Trezha Berryman had 10 points and seven assists, while Amber Cesair had 15 points and seven rebounds. Lauren Brown also had 14 points and six assists.

Collins Hill 54, Habersham Central 36

MT AIRY — Collins Hill went on the road and picked up a 54-36 win over Habersham Central on Friday. Sydney Brown led the team with 15 points while Kyra Dixon added 11 points, five rebounds and three steals. Collins Hill (4-2, 2-0) also got contributions from Jazmine Smith, who had seven points and four assists. Madison McAfee who had seven points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

South 45, Shiloh 35

SNELLVILLE — South Gwinnett defeated Shiloh 45-35 despite nine points and five rebounds from Raquel Cranston. Davida White also added eight points and Kaylen Ward had seven points and three rebounds for Shiloh.

George Walton Academy 47, Hebron 23

DACULA — Hebron fell to 5-1 on Friday losing its first region game of the season to George Walton 47-23. Hannah Lentz had 10 points in the loss for the lions while Ashleigh Stanley had five points and Jozie Lewis had five rebounds.

Boys Basketball

GAC 107, Southwest Atl. Christian 38

ATLANTA — Greater Atlanta Christian exploded offensively on Friday night in a 107-38 win over Southwest Atlanta Christian. Isaiah Wilkins put on a show with eight dunks on the night as he led all scorers with 21 points. Ramses Sandifer added 14, while Eric Jamison and Garrett Covington each had 13 points. Jacob Hoffman also contributed 12 points for GAC.

Deandre Ballard led Southwest Atlanta Christian with 18 points.

Meadowcreek 77, Mill Creek 59

HOSCHTON — Austin Robinson scored 17 points to help Meadowcreek defeat Mill Creek 77-59 on Friday night. Meadowcreek (1-4, 1-1) also got big nights from AJ Hicks with 15 points and six assists, while Anthony Jenkins had 16 points and five rebounds. Jaylon Grace came up just short of a triple-double with nine points and 12 rebounds and also had three assists. Eleven players scored in the game for Mill Creek as it was led by Davion Clark with 11 points.

Providence 48, Prince Avenue 28

ATHENS — Providence (2-4, 1-0) picked up its first region win of the season against Prince Avenue as they won 48-28. Duncan Gotfredson led the Storm with 12 points in the win.

Hebron 61, George Walton Academy 60

DACULA — Hebron pulled out a close win in their first region game of the season, defeating George Walton Academy 61-60. Corey Johnson led Hebron with 21 points while Derek Vandiver scored 14 to improve the Lions’ record to 3-3.

Berkmar 73, Dacula 56

DACULA — Jonathan Sanks scored 18 points and pulled in eight rebounds to lead Berkmar to a 73-56 win over Dacula on Friday. Berkmar (4-2, 2-0) also had good nights from James Sanders with 12 points as well as Josh Colver with eight points and eight rebounds.

Shiloh 75, South 68

SNELLVILLE — Shiloh (2-1) beat South Gwinnett 75-68 Friday night. The Generals got big games from Kareem Brewton, who scored 24 points and added three assists, and Joshua Okogie, who finished with 22 points and eight rebounds.

Brookwood 70, Parkview 60

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood defeated rival Parkview 70-60 in overtime Friday. Deion Dedeaux and Jordan Benjamin each scored 16 points, while Kendall Joseph added 14 points for the Broncos in the victory. Brookwood (6-0, 2-0) also had a record-setting night from Micah Kenzie, who had nine points and a school record eight steals.

Apalachee 78, Flowery Branch 64

WINDER — Apalachee built a huge lead early and held on late as it came away with a 78-64 win over Flowery Branch on Friday. Kamar Baldwin scored 21 points to lead all scorers while Kent Knowles also added 20 points as Apalachee improved to 4-1 on the season.

Grayson 50, Archer 47

LOGANVILLE — Trevian Sconiers led all scores with 12 points while also pulling in five rebounds and blocking two shots in leading Grayson to a 50-47 win over Archer. Grayson (3-1) also got good games from Austin Dukes who finished with 11 points and fours assists, as well as Marquise Lanier, who had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Collins Hill 58, Habersham Central 43

MT AIRY — Collins Hill defeated Habersham Central 58-43 on Friday night. Freshman J.D. Ozoh had 15 points while Jalen Mitchell recorded a double-double for the Eagles with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Collins Hill (3-2, 2-0) won despite missing two senior starters to injury.
