HOSCHTON -- Jesse Thomas held the Norcross offense in check Monday night, pitching Mill Creek's baseball team to a 7-0 victory in Region 7-AAAAAA play.
Thomas struck out five batters with one walk in 5 scoreless innings as the Hawks improved to 11-6 overall and 5-1 in the region.
Tyler Boldt went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Mill Creek offense. Kyle Abernathy (2-for-3) and Brandon Harmon (2-for-3) also had two hits each, while Logan Moseley delivered a two-run home run.
Collins Hill 3, North Gwinnett 2
SUWANEE --Collins Hill pushed across a run in the eighth inning Monday night, handing North Gwinnett its first Region 7-AAAAAA loss with a 3-2 victory on the road.
Matthew Vaca's squeeze bunt in the top of the eighth inning scored Cole Zabowski for the winning run. Zabowski was 2-for-3 and also pitched the first six innings, allowing two runs and eight hits.
Mitch McCain was the winning pitcher for the Eagles (6-12, 3-3) with a scoreless seventh inning, while Tommy McBride pitched a scoreless eighth for the save.
Collins Hill's John Topoleski had a solo home run and teammate Nate Williams went 3-for-4 with a double. Chaz Adams added a 2-for-3 day with a double.
North (12-6, 5-1) got a home run from Zayne Stringer and a 3-for-3 game from Alex Hartz, whose sixth-inning RBI tied the game 2-2. Michael Haynes pitched the first seven innings for the Bulldogs and Jordan Brown (4-3) took the loss in relief.
South Gwinnett 6, Archer 0
LAWRENCEVILLE --Adrian Martinez kept his pitching record perfect Monday night with a one-hit, complete-game shutout in South Gwinnett's 6-0 victory over Archer in 8-AAAAAA play.
Martinez (3-0) struck out two batters in his scoreless seven innings as the Comets improved 15-3 overall and 8-2 in the region.
South was led offensively by Mason Hart (2-for-4, RBI, two stolen bases), Ryan Patterson (2-for-4, RBI, stolen base), Morgan Miller (2-for-4, two RBIs) and Chad Smith (2-for-3, two stolen bases).
Peachtree Ridge 7, Duluth 2
DULUTH --Jonathan Hudson and Cameron Shepherd combined for six hits Monday night in Peachtree Ridge's 7-2 victory over Duluth in Region 7-AAAAAA.
Hudson went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and two RBIs and Shepherd went 3-for-4 with a homer. Tyler Haswell (2-for-4), Anthony Perez (1-for-2, two RBIs) and Tyler Chaney (home run) also aided the Peachtree Ridge offense, while Drew Wharton and Chad Pollitt added a hit each.
Ryne Inman (4-1) was the winning pitcher for Peachtree Ridge (10-8, 4-2). He struck out four batters and allowed six hits in 5 innings.
Brookwood 16, Central Gwinnett 1
SNELLVILLE --Robbie Pestorius went 2-for-3 with five RBIs Monday as Brookwood rolled past Central Gwinnett 16-1 in a Region 8-AAAAAA game shortened to three innings by the mercy rule.
The Broncos (11-7, 7-2) also got good games offensively from Tre Lawrence (3-for-3, three RBIs) and Zach Moon (2-for-2, RBI).
Thomas Byelick (4-3) was the winning pitcher, striking out seven batters and walking two in his three innings.
Grayson 8, Dacula 2
DACULA --Grayson defeated Dacula 8-2 Monday night in 8-AAAAAA baseball.
The Rams (11-7, 6-2) were led by four hits from Oscar Valdes, while Austin Meadows, Brandon Benson and Jack Banda each contributed two hits.Taylor Allum had a double and three RBIs for Grayson and Jeril Dawson added two RBIs. Chris Erwin (2-3) was the winning pitcher.
Dacula (6-12, 3-6) was led by Chance Keefer, who went 2-for-3, and Austin Collins, who had a solo home run. Nick Mollica and Tyler Crumley also added hits.
Mountain View 4, Habersham Central 3
MT. AIRY --The second of Forrest Girardeau's two hits brought home the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning Monday night and Mountain View pulled out a 4-3 win at Habersham Central in 7-AAAAAA play.
Peyton Fore led the Bears (10-8, 4-2) with three hits, Ben Utley had two hits, a double and two runs and Josh Logan contributed two hits, a double and two runs.
Garry Gwaltney earned the pitching victory with a complete-game, four-hitter. He struck out five batters and walked three.
Lanier 16, Lumpkin County 10
SUGAR HILL --Lanier pounded out 17 hits Monday night in a 16-10, Region 8-AAAA victory over Lumpkin County.
Taylor Grant went 4-for-5 with four RBIs to lead the Longhorns (13-5, 6-2), while Matthew Ramsay and Trenton Little each had three hits and two RBIs.
T.J. Richardson (2-for-2, two RBIs) and Michael Diaz (two hits, RBI) also contributed good offensive games. Dustin Lennon was the winning pitcher after throwing 1 innings of relief.
Wesleyan seventh in tourney
DAWSONVILLE --Wesleyan placed seventh overall in the War Eagle Invitational, a Stableford format tournament Monday at Crystal Falls Golf Course.
Cody Solomon led the Wolves with a 73, Nick Ross shot 77 and Shane Cyran shot 78.
Westminster 5, Wesleyan 0
ATLANTA --Westminster defeated Wesleyan 5-0 on Monday afternoon. The Wolves fell to 5-7 on the season.
