While the Grayson varsity football team gets state championships and national rankings, its junior varsity team keeps rolling along, too.
The JV Rams defeated rival Brookwood 33-0 Thursday night to win the Region 8-AAAAAA championship and complete an undefeated season. It was the fourth consecutive unbeaten season and region title.
"These guys play scout team every day against one of the best football teams in the state and take quite a beating," Grayson JV head coach Rob Patton said. "But on Thursdays they get to hand out the beatings and they are good at it."
Grayson's JV squad was strong on defense, allowing just 20 points through seven games (2.8 per game). It posted five shutouts.
The Rams averaged 31.4 points on offense, too.
"The JV years are tough," Grayson varsity head coach Mickey Conn said. "These kids do a great job at practice during the week and it shows in our JV games."
Grayson, also 6-0 in ninth-grade play, will host Central Gwinnett (5-1) on Thursday for the 8-AAAAAA freshman championship.
