Brookwood's fastpitch softball program will host a signing ceremony today at 2:40 p.m. in The Lodge to honor college signees Mandy Blackwell (Georgia State), Megan Litumbe (Georgia State) and Susan Norris (Evansville). The three seniors are part of a class with a four-year record of 115-40-2 with four straight region titles and third- and fifth-place finishes in the state.
Blackwell, the daughter of Wade and Trish Blackwell, was the Gwinnett County Diamond Club player of the year as a senior and earned all-county honors for the fourth straight season. She holds school records for doubles in a season (17), RBIs in a season (48), career at-bats (457), career hits (183), career doubles (41) and career RBIs (139).
Litumbe, the daughter of Daniel and Matilda Litumbe, earned all-county honors the past three seasons. She holds Bronco records for home runs in a season (eight) and career (16). She is tied with Blackwell for second in school history for career batting average at .400.
Norris, the daughter of Tom and Jennifer Morris, was selected as the Gwinnett Diamond Club's county defensive player of the year this past season. She is a four-time all-region selection and ranks second in Brookwood history for runs scored in a season (44) and career (108).
