After taking care of their own business in Friday night’s 27-7 win over South Gwinnett in the second round of the Class AAAAAA state playoffs, the No. 2 state-ranked Norcross Blue Devils were hoping for something else Saturday morning.
“A little luck, hopefully,” said star running back Alvin Kamara, who ran for 185 yards and three touchdowns Friday night.
Unfortunately for Norcross, that good luck did not materialize during Saturday’s coin flip to determine home field for its state quarterfinal matchup against Camden County.
As a result, the Blue Devils will have to make the five-plus-hour trip to coastal Georgia to take on the fourth-ranked Wildcats on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Regardless of the coin flip outcome and the site of Friday’s game, Norcross coach Keith Maloof, who could not be reached for comment Saturday, knows his team will have its hands full with a Camden (11-1) team led by Georgia commits J.J Green and Bryce Ramsey.
“Our guys played really great (Friday) night,” Maloof said after Friday’s win over South. “We’ve got some stuff to clean up, obviously, because we’re going to play a great Camden team who’s got a lot of confidence.”

Teams we've beat on the road this year already this year:
South Gwinnett
North Gwinnett
Mill Creek
Collins Hill
Peachtree Ridge
And a live scrimmage against Colquitt before the season in Moultrie...
We just need to take care of our own business, and limit the mistakes. Where we play makes no difference!
