LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View opened its season with a 71-33 win over visiting Lanier on Friday night.
Kelsey Hutchins led the Bears with 17 points while Ices Walker and Aneysa Williams pitched in with 14 and 12 for Mountain View (1-0).
Lanier (0-1) was paced by Shelby Trelkeld's 13 points in the game.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Salem 58, Meadowcreek 42
CONYERS -- Meadowcreek dropped a 58-42 decision to open its season Friday night. Courtney Fields led the Mustangs with 18 points, three rebounds and two steals. Angel Alexander chipped in with 13 points, two assists and three steals.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lanier 50, Mountain View 40
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Lanier defeated Mountain View 50-40 in the season opener for both teams Friday night.
The Longhorns (1-0) were led by Jordan Harper, who scored 19 points, and Jordan Hodge, who chipped in 11.
The Bears (0-1) were led by Caleb Grant's 17 points and 14 rebounds.
